Default Re: Buying A Hyundai

Lantra and Elantra are the same vehicle. To my knowledge, only one name or
the other is used in any one market.

Not knowing much about the engines and fuel management packages in these
vehicles in Australia, I don't have much to offer in the way of specifics.

I can say that Accents (Excels) and Elantras have been reasonably reliable
cars in the United States, with the Accents seeming to have more automatic
transmission problems. Look for model year 1995 or newer on the
Accent/Excel and 1996 or newer on the Elantra. Before that, there were
major transmission and other problems frequently with these vehicles.
Significant quality improvements seem to have been made again with the
introduction of the 2000 Accent and 2001 Elantra.

Dates given are for major model year changes in the U.S. Other areas of
the world may have experienced these changes a model year earlier.
