Nope.

The cruise turns off automatically whenever you tap the brake pedal, or
whenever you drop below 25 mph.

It just shows the system is on and ready to receive input from you. If you
never input anything, it will just keep waiting.

You're meant to turn it off when not in use (or in inappropriate
situations) to prevent /accidental/ activation.

hey guys, I am a dude who has never experienced having a car with cruise control, what is its difference to a car that doesn't have it anyways? is that like a kit or something that you can have installed?
