| | | dash light stays on I have a 2001 Dodge Caravan SE 3.3 Litre. Just a few hours ago I
noticed a dash light staying on.....its called a malfunction indicator
light and the symbol looks like an engine. It is situated beside the
turn indicator light on the right side of the dash above the main
cluster. I read on the internet that the "code" for the problem could
be found by switching the key off and on several times, which I did,
and found the code to be P0205. That apparently translates to
"injector circuit malfunction"............A neighbour said that COULD
mean a bad plug wire.
Does anyone reading this have any experience with such an issue and is
there any way to more exactly pinpoint what P0205 relates to?
Any advice would be appreciated. |

I think it's unlikely that code would translate to a faulty plug wire. More
likely a wire to one of your injectors has failed open-circuit - or the
injector itself has failed - or the ECU has bitten the dust.
Is the engine running rough (loping or misfiring?) |

You mention nothing about the way the engine is running. With a fault code
like that you would get a noticeable drivability condition. No it would not
be related to a plug or plug wire. Possible #5 injector, Pcm or wiring
issues. A diag test with a DVOM will be needed to diagnose this problem.

Hello again...The vehicle doesn't seem to be running particularly
rough... .....how much money might we be talking with respect to a
failty injector (or wire???)...ballpark of course.\dodger |

In other words, get an estimate for the diagnostic, or prepare to go home
with an empty wallet. |

It depends on whether your local garage is run by Dr. Goodwrench, or Dr.
Goodshaft. Get an estimate in writing first. |

Take it to a shop that has the shop manuals with wiring diagrams. You will
probably pay an hr to check it out and that should be a very easy test to do
in order to find the problem. Since you know the problem is with the #5
injector all you do is check for 12 volts coming from the ASD and a ground
going to the PCM.If the vehicle still falls within the 7/70 federal emission
the labor and PCM would be free to you. (assuming the dealer did the repair)
