Default Holes in my water pump

I have a 1990 F150 Ford pickup.
Water is leaking from the water pump because some idiot drilled holes
in the pump near where the fan attaches to the shaft. There is a hole
on the top and the bottom in the pump casting. Leave it to Ford to
design junk like this. I can only guess that these holes are there
from the casting process and they forgot to patch them afterwards.
I'm going to try to fill the holes with JB Weld, but first I got to
get out all the coolant.

You've got to remember that the engineers must design a product that
is extremely cheap to
mass produce and be somewhat durable at the same time. Since you did
some name-calling here, how would YOU design it so that it would be
long lasting and cheap to manufacture?

It's even more exciting when the hood isn't open.
Accelerating onto the freeway, my fan blade made a nice exit through the
closed hood. At least it came out cleanly. It could have done more damage
in a different direction.

25 years ago I got a recall notice in the mail for my '76 Mustang II
(don't laugh too hard. At least I bought it used instead of new) for
the exploding coolant fan. If I remember right, somebody died because
of this.
