Default Wipers No Longer Park on Park Avenue

28 years of driving six different vehicles and this is the first time /
first car to ever experience wiper problem, my 2005 Buick Park Avenue.

Rained like hell last Monday, So I had the wipers going off & on for
about 2 hours during a trip up north and back.

Leaving for Ohio tomorrow (Friday) so I guess it looks like for the time
being I'll be pulling the fuse so the wipers stay down. Hope it don't
rain...

Wipers work fine on all speed ranges.

When the wipers are turned off they go down like normal, and with a
sudden jump, they take a half cycle and stop in the full vertical
position.

HF,

There's not a whole lot of info in the service manual for your machine.
Mention is made of a cover on the wiper motor that can be replaced. My
guess is that the parking mechanism might be in there. Advance Auto Parts
seems to sell the whole motor and not the cover for it ($120). There
doesn't seem to be anything else in the circuit that would cause the
behavior you are describing.
