Default Unable to open "Center Console Cupholder/Coinholder"

1997 Buick Le Sabre Owner's Manual: The armrest between the front seats
opens into a storage area. to open it, press the lever at the front edge.
Inside, a cupholder flips forward and unfolds to hold two cups, etc.

Never had a problem with it before - but cannot now open it. Anyone?

Yes, but it has been so long ago I forget how I fixed it. I think you can
slip something thin like a butterknife and trip the latch.

There is a check ball inside where the latch locks into the bottom half
of the armrest. The ball prevents the latch from moving (opening) while
the armrest is flipped in the up position. The ball usually drops down
away from the latch when the armrest is in the down position.

Sounds like your ball got stuck.

You should be able to pry it open while pushing in on the latch.

After you got it open try blowing compressed air into the hole of the
lower part of the armrest, there may be a build up of dust, fuzz etc in
there preventing the ball from moving around freely.

Good Luck,
