    Default PVC valve on Pathfinder

    Hello group,

I am the owner of a 2003 Pathfinder with a oil burning problem. The
service manager at the dealership suggested I tried replacing the PCV
    valve.

Bought the valve today, but can not locate it in engine compartement.
    Can some one guide me?

P.S: a short block was installed in december 2005 by nissan at 56k now
    66k

    Thank you

    Bob Trepanier

I would call the Service Dept and ask them were the PVC value is located -
or just take it to the service dept - open the hood and ask them to point to
    PVC value

it should be on the value cover or in that area ..

you might also call the parts dept and ask them - they might even fax you a
    print out of its location

On the '02 (3.5l V6), it sticks out the firewall end of the passenger side
valve cover. '03 is probably somewhere in the same general area.

Short block installed by Nissan with 10K and seven months miles burning oil?
    That's Nissan's problem.

And I don't see how a bad PCV valve would make it burn oil.

Thank you to all who responded. I was told by my dealer that it was
replaced with new engine (I don't think so...). Dealer says 1 litre for
2000KM is normal, B.S. Continuing oil consumption test.

Likely, it was already on the replacement engine when they got it. Its not
something they would specifically replace on a replacement engine unless it
    was completely missing.

Most, if not all car makers say 1 qt of oil per 1000 miles (approx 1
litre/1600KM) is within specs. Most engines do better than that (except
maybe Volkswagen), but you won't find a manufacturer that will honor a
    warranty claim for it.
