My 2000 Subaru outback has a little click that sounds like the
blinker... but the blinker isn't going on... then there is a slight
dimming of the light on the dashboard. any idea what that might be?

Hmmm, could be half-dozen things I guess. Check ALL switches that
control heating elements, seat heater, rear defrost heater, mirror and
wiper defroster (if so equipped).

Maybe the A/C compressor is cutting in/out due to low refrigerant?
