Default factory security upgrade

Is this unit any good ? How difficult to install ? I see some places that
have the upgrade for $85, is there anything else to installling it besides
pulling the center console and pluging it in the harness ? This is for a 03
WRX. I noticed yesterday that my door handle was lose, and the lock cylinder
has come lose and is inside the door handle as well. I'm thinking someone
attempted to break in. But wonder to if something in the door handle just
broke .. But i bet they just tried to pull the door handle section out of
the door so they could get in there and pop it open. There are no marks and
nothing was jamed in the lock cylinder. I never use my key, always the
keyless entry.

$85 is a good price for the OEM "security
upgrade." Installation is quite easy. There's a
bit more to it than pulling up the center
console, but that's the most difficult part of
it. Everything plugs/joins with existing
connectors.

Thanks. I will go ahead and order that. Do you know if it uses a shock
sensor or does it sense current to the inside lights to set it off ?

The OEM unit on my 2005 Forester XS has shock sensor and detects the opening
of the doors. Mine came with it installed as a port option.

The box that goes under the center console has
some type of adjustable shock sensor in it. Door
opening is detected by something aside from dome
light activation (integrated module mojo?), as it
works even if the dome light is switched off.

If it is bumped, it chirps. Dropping a wiper on the windshield will do it. I
never heard it go off by accident. I have never tripped it to get a full
alarm by vibration.
