Just wanted to know if anyone has taken the engine off before for this
type or similar? Any special steps/considerations to be taken?

Get a Haynes or other book and dig around at www.ultimatesubaru.com
and www.scoobymods.com and maybe www.nasioc.com for some tips and maybe
some guides with pics online. There are special considerations when
getting the wrist pins out and of course all the torque specs/procedures
for reassembly.
