You can get 2007 models at the deepest discount in early spring
2008 with the only problem that not every dealer will have the
exact model/color you want. Yes, dealer wants to free the lot
and will be willing to discount 2007 models, you can bet on it.

I also think it may be especially appealing since the 08s supposedly
have a lower MSRP than the 07s!

The dealer I am going to says they have 2 Untitled 05's Legacy wagons.
Said they will knock 5K. Think they have an 06' Outback sedan.

Base model only.
There may be some other differences favouring the '07.
Some say the double wish-bone rear suspension in 08's
results in slightly different handling characteristics, but
surely frees a lot of trunk spac. Things like these, in my mind,
obscure where the real value is. Dealers will probably not
be all that eager to let go of the 07 cheap. Unless you wait
after New Years, which kind'a makes them soften up on
old inventory.
Overall I think the 08 Impreza will be a better car,
I personally dont mind the different rear suspension,
drum brakes (on base models) and prefer frame type
windows, and of course bigger size. Styling I think is
acceptable- haven't seen the car in person yet (going to
dealer to take a peak today). Only wish they made
a two door coupe/hatch.

Looked up the 08' specs. The 5 door is only 500$ cheaper than the
wagon. It really gets confusing on Sube's and Dealers sites,
especially with the 08's being listed, here and there, and not there.
Mixed in with the 07's in invantory, and different prices with the
same equipment. Rough..

IMHO, 5K down for a two years old car is not much (the resale and
depreciation won't care that these two years were not "real"). I'd take
06 with that discount though in a heart beat and I think in spring you
can count on at least 2K off 2007 models.

Getting better prices. Knocking off the 625$ destination charge, plus
the 1K$ factory discount. Have to try to squeeze a shock sensor
installed, out of them, or what it would cost me.

one dealer is knocking 2400$ off some 07' Impreza's. Not the one he
wants to sell me though.((
