Ah yes, the once popular domino theory and its replacement, the
"Mystical war against Islam." Same profit motive, similar sales pitch

John Kerry was a decorated navy officer. He spoke the truth.
The Kerry comments to congress point up the fact that some are still
unwilling to recognize, that the Vietnam War was a giant fiasco, benefitting
no one, and that each and every one of the 58,000 + who died in the service
of their country died in vain. Every one. |

"died in vain" That is pretty profound. With that in mind do you
suppose we could get anyone again to defend America because they would
have died in vain defending it regardless?
We might just as well surrender now and save the time and money, yes?
Mack old boy, I think you've enjoyed the fruits of America for a long
time. Consider yourself lucky.

I assume from your comments that you'd prefer that we still be in Vietnam,
with a present death toll of what?
580,000 instead of 58,000?
don't be such a fool, Snott.
Sure, all those hundreds of thousands of Americans who marched and shouted
against the war for years were all Rightards. sure.

There will be no respect and admiration if we got up and left. There
will be emboldenment by the terrorists and soon afterwards an invasion
by Iran to take over another huge reserve of oil. That would lead to
the entire world being held hostage and eventually China having enough
of that nonsense. How politically correct do you think the Chinese are
when it comes to public opinion?

The war began after American demands that Spain peacefully resolve the Cuban
fight for independence were rejected, though strong expansionist sentiment
in the United States may have motivated the government to target Spain's
remaining overseas territories: Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Philippines, Guam and
the Caroline Islands.[1]
Riots in Havana by pro-Spanish "Voluntarios" gave the United States a reason
to send in the warship USS Maine to indicate high national interest. Tension
among the American people was raised because of the explosion of the USS
Maine, and "yellow journalism" that accused Spain of extensive atrocities,
agitating American public opinion. The war ended after decisive naval
victories for the United States in the Philippines and Cuba. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
