Default 2005 Toyota Corolla Alarm Instructions/manual

Hey, I figured this would be the best place to ask this... anyone that
has a 2005 corolla with an alarm, or a similar model... I bought it
used with no instruction manual... a 2005 toyota Corolla LE with a
built in alarm system that I cannot figure out.

The alarm has gone off on me a lot... I am used to older cars so I am
completely floored by this alarm stuff. I believe it is a steering
column alarm? Who knows. I'd ask the seller but they weren't the driver
of the car so they aren't any help.

I have tried opening the door with the key, opening it with the
controller... nothing stops the dang alarm from surprising me. So far
it seems completely random but it doesn't go off enough for me to
figure the reasons why. I know for certain that I am not hitting the
panic button though.

If anyone can tell me what sets it off I'd be forever thankful. Also
if you know where I could order an instruction manual that would be
wonderful.

Thank you!

Good luck. This is the main reason I've never ordered a car armed with an
alarm - my neighbors' car alarms have gone off enough (for no real reason) -
incl. the middle of the night, waking everyone up - that I've avoided them!

Me, I hate that damned panic button... After 2+ years, I've yet to use it
on purpose, but have set it off unintentionally numerous times. Sometimes
even from inside the house while reaching into my purse for something, &
having no idea I even touched the car keys, much less hit the panic
button...

Try this: http://prg.toyotapartsandservice.com...05_Corolla.pdf and
then go to your local Toyota dealer to order an owner's manual.

good luck!

That's the surest solution. You might also use eBay's Search function.
Searching on
2005 corolla "owners manual"
(including the quotemarks) produces 16 current auctions.

That's because they are not set up properly! A quick perusal of the
Installation manual will provide enough info to stop that.

In most cases, it is the Shock sensor that is setting it off. With some
tweaking it can be set so sensative a gust of wind will set it off, so you
have to reach a medium where a good shock will trigger the alarm, but not
the normal wind gusts, etc.

Sitting down at my computer usually sets mine off!
