"Professor Priya Venkatesan was so taken aback by what she claims was
rude behavior - including the class applauding another student for
disagreeing with her - she wants to sue her former pupils for harassment
and discrimination.
"'I was horrified,' she said.
"'My responsibility is not to stifle them, but when they clapped at his
comment, I thought that crossed the line. I was facing intolerance of
ideas and intolerance of freedom of expression,' she told The Dartmouth
newspaper."
Pot...kettle...black, I'd say.

For liberals tolerance of ideas only applies to you accepting their
ideas. This is clearly evident everywhere today, especially in
government.
Exactly who is this professor suing?
Immaturity is also a hallmark of the liberal elitists. If you poke at
their myopic view of the world they don't know how to handle it.

What makes you think she's a liberal? She mentioned anti-discrimination
laws in her email to the students. That's stupid. I'd say that makes her a
Republican. After all, you're the party whose spokesman loves to toss around
erroneous words like "socialist". |

"The feeling that I am getting from the outside world is that Dartmouth
is considered a bigoted place..."
That sentence should be proof enough. Besides, if not a liberal who
requires someone else to do everything for them she would have handled
the problem herself. The mere fact that she "feels" it necessary to
teach the students a lesson by suing them is another screaming example.
She probably wishes those students were all on Ritalin so they would
behave properly.

One, she is a college professor. That does not automatically make her a
liberal, it sets the stage and she appears to have lived up to the hype.
Whether she is a liberal or not does not really address the point though,
she is a boob that should never be teaching anybody anything. Accor4ding to
her students, the time they spent with her was a complete waste. And, when a
student stands up in class and tells the professor that she is a nut job,
and the rest of the students applaud, then you ought to wonder about the
credentials the professor has.
She has no case, and I hope she gets it to court where the judge can tell
her that she is a nut job. |

Your disdain for education is pathetic. Do your kids know about it? Do you
badmouth their teachers, too?

I have no disdain for education at all. Indeed, I was a technical instructor
for a very long time.

Two things here ...
1.) you changed the subject, again.
2.) you snipped the salient point about the students saying the time they
spent with the professor was a complete and utter waste of time and money.
The students ought to be sueing the university for failure to teach ... |

My impression was that the students felt like they were in Help Desk Hell,
where you call with a computer problem that gets picked up in Bombay by a
person that can't help resolve the issue. |

No, I didn't. You have problems seeing the connection between general
categories and specific examples. Abstraction is an important skill for
understanding pretty much everything. You must've attended an elementary
school with a small budget or incompetent teachers. Otherwise, you would've
been in special education classes. |

Except that nobody is badmouthing teachers, unless being called liberal is
badmouthing. I never thought that being called liberal was an insult.
The public education system is obvioulsy failing if it pumps out the likes
of you. You have jumped to at least three unfounded conclusions that can
only arise out of a failed education. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
