    Umm anyone see this non-masterpiece?

I was sad. I love M.Night's movies... and the movie was amazingly sucky. I
am shocked it did not get extremely bad critiques...

People walking out the doors were like "that sucked."

Seriously... Oh and maybe this was by design but in one part of the movie
you can actually see the microphone bobbing in at the top. I am not sure if
that was some andy kaufmanish design or just ed wood...

    don't waste your money... seriously...

Here's my review from another internet forum where I spend most my time:

I say this as an M. Night Shamalan apologist: Up to this point, I have
defended his films, even Lady in The Water (a sweet family film) and
    Unbreakable.

The Happening blows. The acting is terrible, especially Zooey M. Ward.
Marky Mark is better, but his moral and always right character is so
fucking one dimensional that no one could salvage it. The script is
completely linear. The only moments that have any tension are those
where the peril comes from sources that aren't the mysterious force
that makes you want to kill yourself.

And the much trumpeted "R" rating probably came from a mildly gory
scene involving lions, a scene that felt tacked on and served no
purpose other than an iPhone product placement.

Ug. save your money. Watch one of those idiotic 70s movies where toxic
waste gets spilled on an ant hill and giant ants eat people.

I heard that his newfound control freak ways have ruined his movies. I've
only seen Sixth Sense, which pissed me off from a medical standpoint, but
    was a great movie overall.

    *fwap*

I'm not an ichthyologist, smart guy.

Nah, that wound wouldn't have been either instantly fatal, or not fatal at
all, so the "twist" just made me roll my eyes.

Most of the reviews I've read are bad. Only 20% positive, according to
    RottenTomatoes.

I haven't seen this one yet. I have to say, I may be the only person
around who has actually enjoyed every one of Shyamalan's movies. Yes, even
The Lady In The Water. Yes, even The Village. Yes, even Unbreakable.

20% is pretty low, though. I'm not a slave to critics' opinions, but at
some point you have to think it's just a waste of $10. Hmmmmm... I could
still be that one out of five that likes it, though.

I've got a huge crush on Deschanel. I don't get this "M. Ward"
    reference.

I actualy laughed during the part where the lion chews off the arms of the
trainer. It was so ridiculously funny looking. I kept wondering if M.Night
was just f-ing with us. He had to be. That or he was going through a
    complete breakdown through this movie.

Oh and the way many of the people kill themselves after getting the bug was
    just hilarious.

Even the way the bug/disease attacks the people does not make sense. Some
people walk forward after getting it instead of backwards. It would have
been more believable if they were frantic...

I thought Signs was pretty cool. The Village and Lady in the Water are more
so fantasy films than horror films.

I think many people expect scarey movies from him when they rent his
movies... I think his ideas are good, but they arent executed to perfection
    like they should be.

I enjoyed them too but not this one...
