You mean like McSame did by saying there was a secret surge before the
surge and that the surge protected a shiek that was killed during the
surge.

It was a very successful campaign trip. It accomplished several things:
1) It showed that he had a solid grasp of foreign affairs. He was able
to intelligently answer every question that was thrown at him. McCain
consistently has trouble remembering who's fighting whom, and where
various countries are located.
Compare the two press conferences in the Middle East, Obama's and
McCain's. No doubt that Obama had such a stronger grasp of the issues
and hence would make much better judgment calls.
2) It proved that Iraq's leaders have a vision for winding down American
military involvement on a timetable similar to the one Obama has
suggested. While Bush and McCain disparage the idea of setting a date,
in fact it's the only way to get the Iraqi's to accept responsibility
for their country.
3) It put McCain/Bush on the defensive. They're now letting Obama set
the agenda of the presidential campaign.
4) Obama's position on Iraq more closely matches the expectations and
desires of the U.S. citizens who have no interest in McCain's vision of
staying in Iraq for 100 years.
5) McCain made a big deal out of Obama's not having gone to Iraq or
Afghanistan, so naturally when Obama did go, the press gave him full
coverage. It backfired on McCain. |

IIRC, when McCain went to Iraq, he pronounced it relatively safe to go out &
walk down the streets - while he had his whole security entourage
surrounding him on the ground & above. Yeah, just the ordinary person
would... IMO, shot himself in the foot with that remark.

Yeah, there were great pics of McCain in flak vest and helmet surrounded by
soldiers. What couldn't be seen was the Blackhawks orbiting overhead or the
Army snipers deployed on the rooftops. Just another stroll down the
street...... |

Total Bull Shit.
by the way....our great President George W. Bush does not conduct our
affairs like a Dim would. He does what he feels is right.
He does NOT put his finger up in the air and swing his opinion.
You know where he stands.
