I come to Berlin as so many of my countrymen have come before.
Tonight, I speak to you not as a candidate for President, but as a
citizen -- a proud citizen of the United States, and a fellow citizen
of the world.

Then that person is probably the right one. We don't need any more
appeasers as President, look what it did for the Middle East.

This makes *zero* sense to me. How on earth (literally) can the U.S. be
respected & held up as an icon - a nation to emulate with ideals to strive
for - for the rest of the world, if the rest of the world hates us? Think
of any community - large or small - and the most hated person w/in that
community, along w/that hated person's buddies. They wind up isolated from
everyone else, with nothing *good* to their credit.

I am not talking the extreme of appeasement. Please explain the advantage
of the U.S. and our president being hated by the rest of the world. How
does that work in our favor?
