Let's be fair. The bill was backed by Bush as well, so it's a
    defeatfor the President as well.

Personally, I'm sick of his stance on immigration. The man is
nearlysingle-handedly responsible for a 40% reduction in contributions
    to
the RNC due to his immigration policies. I'm proud to say that
    I"contributed" to that 40% reduction.

But the vote IS good news, for certain.

    As it should be.

    He is wrong on Amnesty.

    As have I.

I've sent some really scathing emails and made a lot of phone calls to
both my Senators (and my representative just to let him know how I
    feel...LOL).

No money to the GOP till they get their head on straight on this
    Amnesty crap.

    Close the borders.

    Kick all the illegal's out.

    Period....end of story.

" A broad immigration bill to legalize millions of people in the U.S.
unlawfully failed a crucial test vote Thursday, a stunning setback that
could spell its defeat for the year."

Look at that sentence! Why was the failure unlawful? Julie Hirschfeld
Davis needs to go back to school and learn how to write more clearly.

At least she is reporting good news despite her inability communicate
    properly.

Exactly right. I have had two conversations with RNC phone solicitors
in the past few months. I raised my voice at one before apologizing
andtelling her that I know it isn't her fault, but to tell Bush,
"Close the damn borders!" She admitted that I wasn't among the
    minorityof responders.

And I love those who, in ignorance, tell me that I'll be paying five
bucks for a head of lettuce. Factor in the externalized costs of
paying for the presence of illegals, and I'll bet we passed that
    levela long time ago.

Tax payers, my a**. They're a cash sub-society with no
    obligationssave the acquisition of hand-outs.

The President is NOT a conservative. And with his relentless, deliberate,
and arrogant assault on the Constitution, he's "American" by birthright
    only.

Meanwhile, Ron Paul has more individual contributors than any other
    candidate for President.

I see your point. At least I am not paid for public writing.

Nope. Right wingers in Congress opposed the Right Winger in Chief.

    > A win for America!

Maybe not, but at least we may not get so many new H1-B visas for high-
tech workers in short supply, where "high-tech" here includes
prospective McDonald's employees. Really -- that loophole was
    included to appease business interests.

    > A loss for the Dims......

Nope. Left wingers in Congress opposed the Right Winger in Chief

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Immigration is the
perfect political issue because it not only pits the left against the
right but also the left against the left and the right against the
    right.
