If it were my car I would use the weights recommended in the owners
manual. A 2% improvement in mpg in the real world would be impossible
to prove.

2% adds up over time.

The owners manual can't predict new and potentially superior products
that may show up after the car is manufactured. The manual for my 240T
recommends regular 10W30, but few would argue that synthetic is not a
better choice for a car with an oil cooled turbocharger.

The Volvo dealer said its fine, 0-30 Mobil One was not made when my
car came out. 2% would be easy for me since where I drive has kept my
avg mpg the same.

Excellent - the dealer is the best place to get a question like that
answered.
