    Default Advice, please, re: MAF

    I have a 98 S70, non turbo...

I want to replace the MAF (Random Check engine) - it's the original, with
    120,000 miles.. so there's a good chance it's n/g...

I have found 2 numbers and have not been able to determine if they
    absolutely are interchangable...

    Volvo 1275749/bosch 0280-217-107.

    Also, Bosch B3130-51364.

Can anyone advise me on these.. which is correct, are there other numbers,
    etc...

    thank you very much!

Note- car is away from home at this time, so I am unable to verify either of
these on the part itself.. these numbers above are from searching on the
    net,,,

Use part number bosch 0280-217-107 to replace this part.

But, before you spend the money for a new one, what indicators do you have
that this part has failed, other than 120,000 miles? This can be a very
expensive strategy for diagnosing random check engine warnings. In fact,
this is probably the single most expensive item in the fuel system.
Furthermore, it may not be fuel system - it may be ignition system (lots of
inexpensive parts and repairs), or exhaust system (mixture of medium to high
    cost parts).

Old wise man say start with inexpensive causes using process of elimination.
Unfortunately, old wise man is older and wiser than me ...

    Thank you Pat...

What's going on is that the Check Engine light comes on after about 200
miles into a tank of gas....

This same thing happened on my 2 other cars, and replacing the MAF cured it.
So, for me, it's more of a guess, but it's a part I can get and do myself
    quite easily...

Is it a gamble, sure is...but one I thought I'd try none the less... at
around 120k, the MAF has basically, AFAIK, served it's time.. if not, then
off to the repair shop and to let them check it out...
