Durmax Diesel 2003 2500 HD

What kind of longevity does this combo have?

Average ? 100K 300K More?

Before major engine work?

What can you do to minimize or eliminate injection pump failure with the new
low sulfur diesel... etc etc.

I doubt anyone has gotten too far by now. You may see a few at 100K but I
can't see much more than that.

Actually, I have been looking at one a friend of mine has for sale at
110,000 miles. When I looked on line to see what people are asking for them
on TraderOnline and a few other places I saw them listed with upto 320,000
miles. I was just wondering if 300K was routine, or the exception, and how
much maintenance it took before you hit that 300K mark. Also, with only low
sulfur diesel being available if there were any additives you could use to
save the injection pump from failure due to the lower lubricating properties
of low sulfur diesel.

So what is causing the injection pump failures then?

Just a guess - because I have heard of pump failures on my gasser
Avalanches - the pump may be in the tank?

From what I've heard, if one lets the tank go below 1/4 empty then the pump
isn't properly cooled and may fail prematurely.

Don't know if this is the case on the oil burners.

I've got a colleague who bought a 2003 Duarmax HD3500 and hauls a monster
5th wheel 6 month of the year and drives it daily the rest of the time. It's
got 255,000 miles and other than routine maintenance and some Allison
transmission firmware updates it's never had any unscheduled service or
issues. Still going strong.....was chipped last year without issue as well.
