Default Auto dashlight dimmer manual over ride

I have a 2008 Silverado. It automatically dims the dash lights at night and
brightens them during the day. Some times it doesn't switch when it should
and the dash lights are too dim in the day, making it hard to read the
radio. The dash light brightness knob does not turn up high enough to
adequately compensate for this. Is there a manual over ride switch
somewhere for this automatic feature so I can decide when the dash lights
are bright or dim?

Have you read the manual?
Have you contacted the dealer since it's under warranty?

Do you have a dash cover? You may have covered the sensor.

Thanks Guys,

No, I do not have a dash cover and the sensor is clean. I couldn't find
anything on it in the owner's manual. The dealer is a little far away and
the problem is so infrequent that I don't know if it is how these trucks
normally act. But it is an annoyance when it happens. I would have thought
they might have built in a manual over ride for this automatic function. If
they have, that would work fine for me in these few instances.

My 2003 S-10 Has what is called "Dome Override" press the button 4
times, and the headlights go into manual operation, then you can turn
off the headlights and your dash lights will go to full brightness.
The manual explains all of this.
