Default Silverado '99 Headlight Reminder Chime Doesn't Work

Don't know when it started, but when I walk away from the truck after
having manually turned on the headlights, there's no chime to remind
me if I forget to turn them off. I could have been gone a long time
and come back to a dead battery.

I know it used to remind me, but something has changed. Anybody got a
suggestion? Have I disabled it somehow without realizing it?
Thanks, The Roamer

Try the owners manual first, if you still have it.
They do tend to have answers like this.

In my silverado, I get a chime if I leave the lights on and remove the
key (while the lights are on). There is no way for me to disable the
chime without turning the lights off.

I suggest you contact your favorite dealer about this issue. Your
chime may have died.

I have a 99 silverado. If I turn my dash lights to off, the chime quits.
