AutoMoBids is a revolutionary consumer-to-dealer system. It was designed to create buyers versus just qualified leads. The system allows registered consumers to place bids on multiple vehicles up to three times. Dealers set their floor price on each vehicle when posting inventory to the site so they are guaranteed to get at least that when a bidder locks in.

About Page from Website

Auto Bid Systems, Inc. was founded on the simple premise that buying a vehicle should be an enjoyable, convenient and exciting experience for everyone involved.

* Buyers want a great deal, great service, and convenience.
* Sellers want smart customers that they can sell to and service.

At ABS, we felt the Internet could do more for both buyers and sellers. So rather than asking people if they wanted “a quote”, we thought it would be better to just help the find a price that a dealer near them would take – anonymously, quickly, and guaranteed.

Founded by veteran ecommerce and vehicle sales specialists, the ABS team has put the most advanced online technologies into an Internet sales system that gives everyone more of what they need. That system is called AutomobidsTM, an advertising and sales solution for dealers that delivers inventory to buyers and – if the deal is right – lets buyers lock in their choice right on line.

To do this we started by building a way for dealers to put their exact inventory out onto the Internet – both on their web site and as advertisements. That way consumers can see the details and be sure of what they were getting. Then we added a way for the dealer and buyer to negotiate and agree. Our unique bidding system was designed to be flexible and interactive without compromising a consumer's privacy. Through AutomoBidsTM, consumers can bid on vehicles and dealers can engage with bidders – all without ever releasing the consumer's identity.

So in a way, AutomoBidsTM works a lot like the way a dealer's showroom except, instead of a salesperson - we're the ones talking to the “sales manager”. For example, with AutomoBidsV, consumers can lock in their deal immediately using the Buy Now price, or they can bid against a “hidden floor price” that the dealer has set on each vehicle. Because dealers have to be competitive anyway, you can be sure that if a car is “Priced for Bidding” in AutomoBids, that the “hidden floor price” that dealer has set inside of AutomoBidsTM is going to be a great deal.

Your job as a smart consumer is to exceed that floor by $1 and you can lock in your deal.

And unlike some Internet bidding systems, with AutomoBidsTM, consumers are never obligated when they bid. To secure your deal you have to lock in the price you'll pay using a valid credit card. When you do, your card will be authorized for $150. At that point you have 7 days to complete your transaction with the dealer. When you do, that $150 will be taken off the final sale price of the vehicle. If for any reason you don't complete your transaction, you won't be charged. Its that simple.

The reason this patented AutomoBidsTM process works so well is that even with all of the information available on the Internet – it's never going to reflect the exact cost and price of a specific vehicle that the dealer has on the lot. So what most consumers don't realize is that they can be standing in a dealer's lot, looking at two identical cars and the dealer's cost on each of those cars can vary by thousands of dollars. There are lots of reasons why including rebates from the manufacturer, when the vehicle was first delivered, and more.

To make this even better, the AutomoBidsTM system helps dealers save money on advertising by giving them an easy, inexpensive way to create and place their ads on the Internet. And when dealers save money they can be more competitive – something that's great for consumers.

In just Four Easy StepsTM, and less than 10 minutes, consumers can find exactly what they want, at a price that the dealer is guaranteed to take, and they can lock that price in without the travel or hassle of going to a showroom.

Imagine...the dealer can save money and sell more cars and the consumer can save time and hassle and... get a great deal.

Now that's progress.

So how will you buy your next car?

Thumbs up How the New AutomoBids System Affects the Car Buying Experience

This is not necessarily a new concept as it has been talked about for a few years now, but it is the first system of its kind that I know of.

The way it works is dealers load their inventory into the system and set a floor price for each vehicle. Essentially, the dealers are creating a branded virtual sales lot on the AutomoBids system. They also have the ability to create vehicle-specific ads with search engine marketing campaigns. Consumers register their credit cards with the system and then can search for vehicles in the sales lots. They can bid up to three times on a vehicle and up to 10 vehicles at a time. The bidder can then lock in a price for up to seven days by exceeding the dealer’s floor price which is not disclosed to the bidder.

Although there is more meat to the equation, this new buying process has the potential to change the way autos are shopped and purchased, just like eBay Autos has done. This of course could take years to become a part of the consumer culture, but from what see it should have a lasting impact. This will not replace the sales rep, but it will force the sales rep to adapt to the new method by finding alternate ways to add unique value to the consumers’ online buying experience.

Default New Models Emerging!

I agree the market is changing...

Consumers want hassle free- low priced- convienant buying experiences.

Mentioning some projects on the horizon that I have seen across the web are now propositioning consumers to "Sell" their vehicles to participating dealerships. In other words... portals that allow consumers to get a guaranteed buy on their trade in. What this exposes is a "hot lead" in the industry and also a potential buyer to the dealer.

Given that, the models I have seen (not mentioning names right now).. allow the dealer to BUY the car at a guaranteed price but this also generates a lead to the dealership. If the consumer does not buy from the dealer- the dealer still gets a new unit that could potentially be sold to other dealers or auto auction.

This sounds like a more convienant route to buying and selling in the market place- not just for comsumers but for dealer general managers/ sales/ and financ depts. Keep your eyes open to such models emerging on the horizon!!!! It is a win win for dealers and consumers!

Default Caroffer.com- a LaneLogic product

Hey all,
I had been eluding to this in previous posts about a new relationship forming in the car industry- specifically between a consumer wanting to sell their car. We all know the CARMAX method was created to avoid consumers having to haggle in the buying process- well now there is a new consumer portal process that ALSO allows dealerships to GAIN a potential HOT lead to their lot by way of caroffer.com. Read the article below- Internet is making way for some very fast advances in the industry! National rollout of this model is set for March 2008.

------------------------------------------------
DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--lanelogic® will introduce a new, revolutionary online product, caroffer™, at this year’s National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) conference in San Francisco, CA. caroffer™ gives consumers the ability to get real cash offers for any vehicle they wish to sell in a matter of minutes. The caroffer™ banner is linked on a dealer’s retail Web site, allowing them to offer the public a quick and simple way to sell any vehicle online. This new product gives lanelogic® dealers a powerful tool to source inventory and drive retail traffic.

Once a consumer clicks the banner to sell their vehicle, the lanelogic® trade desk will take over. The consumer will be directed to a world-class Web site that walks them through a very simple online selling process. If a consumer accepts our cash offer, they will receive a voucher that can be redeemed within 72 hours at the dealership through which the offer was facilitated.

lanelogic® announced last week that it had partnered with The Pep Boys – Manny, Moe & Jack (NYSE: “PBY”), the nation’s leading aftermarket retail and service chain, to launch caroffer™. This partnership gives consumers access to up to 600 vehicle drop-off and inspection locations across the country, and provides a pool of used car inventory for lanelogic®’s dealer partners.

“We believe the Pep Boys partnership will produce a phenomenal source of inventory for our dealers,” said Bruce Thompson, lanelogic’s® founder and CEO. “We anticipate that most vehicles acquired through this alliance with Pep Boys will be three to five years old and valued at under $9,000. These are the most desirable used vehicles and our dealers will have the first opportunity to purchase them.”

lanelogic® believes a real cash offer to acquire a vehicle in minutes is very compelling to the consumer. By leveraging the Internet traffic already driven by its dealers’ Web sites, partnering with some of the largest Internet search and content sites in the country and capitalizing on Pep Boys foot and Web traffic, this new application is expected to drive thousands of cash offer requests a day.
