One of the best things about owning a Corvette is that each one can be different. Many Corvette owners enjoy tinkering under the hood, or making changes to their car. Still, while you're working on your Corvette, there are some safety tools you need to have handy.
It's important to understand, first, that most accidents in the garage come from carelessness. Leaving a tool laying around, not properly stowing parts, and even just forgetting to wind up an air hose can wind up causing plenty of injury. Keep a clean shop if you want to be safe.
Still, there are things you need to have on hand for when an accident happens. The first of these is a fire extinguisher. A garage often has plenty of accellerants and other chemicals that can go up in flames. You want to make sure that you have a fully-charged fire extinguisher. Make sure you have the right type of fire extinguisher, which is one that will handle all three classes of fire.
You also need a first aid kit for your garage. You'll want bandages, disinfectant spray, antibiotic, gauze pads, and medical tape. An ice pack, scissors, burn cream, and sterile gloves are good to have, as well.
Safety goggles and safety gloves are also a necessity. Gloves help keep you from getting scraped and cut, and goggles will protect your eyes from any projectiles that happen to go flying.
