Default The 2008 Nissan Altima Hybrid

The Nissan Altima hybrid was added to the Nissan lineup in 2007. The 2008 Altima hybrid offers the fuel economy and the efficiency of a hybrid drivetrain, combined with the performance that has long been a part of the Altima line. The 2008 Nissan Altima is an important component in Nissan’s efforts to try to create more and more efficient vehicles and to improve fuel efficiency.

Under the hood of the 2008 Nissan Altima Hybrid, you’ll find a power train that combines an advanced electric drive motor/generator with a refined version of Nissan's QR25 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. It also features a standard electronically-controlled CVT with advanced energy drive system. These systems together allow the Altima Hybrid to run solely on electric power when applicable, especially during stop-and-go driving. When the 2008 Nissan Altima hybrid needs extra power, the gasoline engine kicks in automatically and immediately. There is even a digital display on the speedometer that indicates when the Altima Hybrid is running solely on electric power.

The Altima Hybrid at 35 mpg city and 33 mpg highway. Nissan projects that you can drive the Altima Hybrid approximately 700 miles between fill-ups of the 20-gallon gas tank.

Part of what contributes to the amazing fuel economy of the 2008 Nissan Altima hybrid is the braking technology. This hybrid utilizes regenerative braking technology for recharging the hybrid system's batteries, eliminating the necessity of "plugging in" to maintain storage of sufficient electrical energy. A generator places resistance on the driveshaft during braking, powering the electric motor. Altima Hybrid's regenerative cooperative brake system calculates and controls braking force to convert kinetic energy into electrical energy, optimizing energy regeneration. The system converts this friction to usable energy that is stored in the system's battery for use by the electric motor.

The Nissan Altima Hybrid offers a unique opportunity in the ownership of a hybrid sedan. It delivers outstanding economy coupled with surprising performance from a four-cylinder gasoline engine base.

If you’re looking for a family car that’s environmentally friendly, look no further than the 2008 Nissan Altima Hybrid.
