Default Certain elements of CRM......

I have encountered a need at my place of employment for a software application that contains certain fundamentals of CRM, but not others.
For occasion, I definitely need the ability to record details about customer and related entities, such as organization, geographic location and event. I also need to construct and manage relationships between these customers and how it narrates with the other entities. Contact management and workflow would be other features I would need.
Any suggestion about where I should turn?

This will probably have a lot of people scratching their heads and asking why, but I've actually found ACT! by Sage Software to fit my needs nicely. Yes, it's an old application and doesn't have the functionality that most people need, but it solved two problems for me. First, I only needed basic functionality (i.e. contact management, logging opportunities, and basic information about prospects/clients). Second, I needed something that could handle a large database of approximately 120,000 records and handle it quickly. Some of the web-based apps I tried were pretty good but very slow when it came to database queries. If I need to access my database remotely I have to use a VPN, but that's a rare occasion that I need to do so.

Yes, a lot of people see ACT! as an antiquated program, but depending on your own needs it might be a good solution. You didn't mention what your place of employment is....if it's at an actual dealership then ACT! probably wouldn't be a good choice. My only advice is to demo all programs you're considering until you get a good feel for how well they'll work under your circumstances.
