Default Selling used cars to make a profit

My dad has been a car dealer for the last 25 years or so. He now works for himself selling, for the most part, used cars. I'm interested in the business and how it all works and I'm attempting to add a bit more structure to my dads business by creating a DMS for sole traders. In an attempt to do this, I've tried to make a model of how the process of selling used cars to make a profit works.

It would be great if you could take a look at it and tell me were I've got things wrong and if there's anything I've neglected to cover.

    You can view it here.

Just post in this thread the corrections and additions you would make.

Interesting. Will scout around for some possible feedback for you.

Are you familiar with the Automotive Digital Marketing Ning network or DrivingSales.com? These are a good places to run stuff like this by other community members.

    Hello Aaron,

Looked over your document... Nice effort. Are you looking to build a Digital Marketing System platform? What (software) environment were you planning to use? OR Are you trying to develop a Digital Marketing Strategy? A business plan for used car dealers.

If you give me (us) an idea of how your end users will use your DMS it might assist with the sending of correct direction here.

You are welcome to use me as a resource if you think I can help: David T. Gould

I'm trying to develop a basic dealer management system and I'm trying to get an idea of how the process works, so I know what I need to build.

It would be web-based and hopefully, get dealers to use social networking to their advantage.

Thanks David, I might just get in touch.

Default That sounds like quite a project...

Aaron, Building a Dealer Management System to drive social networking seems like an awful lot of work... (that is why I referred to Digital Marketing Strategy).

Just trying to help you qualify for others what your objectives / goals are.

    All the best... DTG
