DMS polling is a low-margin commodity that requires much attention.
Polling via modem dial-in requires a lot of resources and is a slow process. Long distance charges are a factor too.
Polling via Telnet is a good option. Just make sure you can update installed polling nodes.
Most important of all...be scalable. Your market is the volume provider, not the dealer.
Do all types of data, not just one.
Have a sound normalization process.
