Default Useful SEO Practices that Every Dealer Should Follow

When looking at dealer websites I commonly shake my head and say 'why??'. They are terrible at getting organic traffic and virtually no SEO practices are employed.

The following is a good reference to follow when purchasing a site. Ask the builder questions based on this list. In the long run, if your page is built by these guidelines, you will save lots of money on web advertising campaigns and enjoy much more organic traffic on a daily basis.

Something in particular dealers should keep in mind when getting the latest and greatest FLASH website that cost them many thousands of dollars:

A Flash home page
Fortunately this epidemic disease seems to have come to an end. Having a Flash home page (and sometimes whole sections of your site) and no HTML version, is a SEO suicide.

I think many dealers are still not getting automotive seo. Certain providers are seducing these dealerships into these bling bling, flash heavy sites that index poorly and generally rank bad. Another important thing to keep in mind is conversions. These overdone flash sites generally convert poorly plus with a flash design you don't have much control over your homepage unless you fork out $$$ to your design firm. Here are some up to date tips to help car dealers with SEO and Dealer websites in 2008. Enjoy!

Default Brand new SEO tips from the pros

The best part is that it really applies to auto dealers..

The main problem with car dealersships is that there are only so many keywords to cars and only so many things that the end user searches under..

That said... if a customer cannot find you online to check you out, you are shooting yourself in the foot.

If you have no idea waht SEO is about, and your website is not paying for the price of the server, then you are best getting a professional to take care of it.

I recommend DragonSearch Marketting.

Default Seo

A lot of what is being said about SEO here is true, but not always so simple. For instance, someone may have the best of intentions while writing content for their site and making sure they have their keywords visible, yet end up accused of keyword spamming purely by accident.

That said, if you have any questions, find an SEO company that works with auto dealers on a monthly basis for help and information. Many times, they charge at a level that makes it affordable to use them.

Try Search Engine Managers, they are excellent and are very affordable.

I agree with full house. Good content with well chosen keywords is a very important part of SEO. Still, links to your site is the most important factor in SEO.

To add to the good suggestions already given, you should begin a regularly updated blog on your website. You could talk about new models, warranty questions, reliability awards and much more.

This content will likely be keyword rich and will greatly help with your Google ranking. Be sure also to include nice pics with every post. They're a lot more visually-appealing than plain text alone.

Full house,

Blogs help with SEO in that they feature regularly updated content that is keyword rich, which will help Google and friends see you as relevant to the topics at-hand.
