Default Creating a privately hosted dealership website: Is it possible?

At our dealership, we currently use eBiz as our website host/creator/editor. Right now, it works well, they export our inventory to 3rd party sites, and we also have them host our e-mail.

My question is, would it be possible for me to create a website for my dealership where I can choose the hosting, have my own web designers build and code the site, but still have the ability to export my inventory feed out to sites like AutoTrader.com and Cars.com. Has anyone here done it?

If so, how would I go about doing so and what headaches might I run into? Thanks for your input.

I really wish this forum was moderated. It could be a valuable resource but there's obviously no support besides spammers...

It is a shame this forum isn't moderated, I stumbled across it while doing some research. I used to manage my brother's used car lot and now I have a design and marketing firm so I am familiar with both aspects. It actually would not be that hard to have a site coded with the features you're looking for. The most difficult/costly part will be implementing the api calls to the sites you want your content posted too (cars.com, autotrader.com ect.).

I don't want to sound spammy, but if you are looking for a quality website our team could get you set up using a very easy to understand CMS (content management system) that will allow you to easily upload more content yourself without having to pay someone every time you want something added to the site. Feel free to PM me if you would like to discuss this further. We are an American small business so you know you'll be able to communicate easily with us.

    Hello,

This isn't a spam message but we do offer a product you can purchase not lease and install it on your hosting account. Our system can be seen at Car Dealer Websites | Car Dealership Websites | Automotive Dealer Websites | Auto Dealer Websites | InvenTrack Home. It exports to Cars.com, AutoTrader.com, Vast.com, WeCanFinanceYou.com and some others to name a few. Easy to use and cost effective.

If you have any questions please let me know.

    Regards,
    Ray

There is a way to do that. The process that you are referring to (Having your inventory exported to third party sites) is called "Syndication". There are a LOT of companies out there that can accomplish that task for you (without having to host your website as well). Ebiz most likely has you in a website package that includes syndication. You can just use them for syndication if you currently like their system and not use them for website hosting. I would recommend purchasing a website domain from Go-Daddy (if you haven't already) so that you are not using a domain that is owned by the company that you utilize for hosting your website. That way you can direct any website that you want to that URL and not have to change it in the future. I would highly recommend using a website company that specializes in the automotive industry though, that way you can make sure that syndication to your website and DMS integration works correctly. Hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions.
