Default New dealer here... how do I get financing for my customers?

Hi, I just opened a small used car lot in central Florida. Right now I accept cash, check, and credit cards, and I am wanting to offer financing for my customers, and eventually get into buy here pay here as well. The problem is, I know NOTHING about financing, and I don't know where to even begin.

I know I need a license from the state in order to finance, but besides that, I don't know what else I need to do, or how the whole process of financing works. How do you get set up with lenders? What are some good lenders to deal with?

Again, I am a total newbie to financing, so just assume I have no idea what you are talking about because I probably don't. In other words, dumb it all down for me!

I'm going to bump this up because I have the exact same question. Can someone please help us out? I'm in Utah and looking for ways to offer financing to my customers. The local banks I've talked to haven't been much help.

Unless you're among the minority of people who pay cash, you need to quickly become an informed consumer on the subject of financing if you're considering buying a new car. For most new-car buyers, one of the biggest costs of purchasing a new car is interest on the loan that makes the purchase possible. But there are a variety of ways to finance a car, and knowing your options can help save you money.

As a financier you have to look for plans that are suitable for your clients and does not put extra burden on them, otherwise it will be not possible to make a name in your circle.
