    Default Car Speaker Advice Help?

I have a 2001 expedition whose speakers are pretty much dead due to many things....i am looking to replace them but i have no idea what brand or type of car speaker to buy. Could you suggest speakers that are loud and relatively cheap. I don't need a woofer or sub just like cone replacements.

Car speaker placement is very important to the overall sound of a car audio system. When installing car speakers there are two choices. Factory locations or custom locations. Factory locations are convenient for drop in replacements but for the best sound, custom work is needed. Let me offer some car speaker installation advice.

Go for sony explode...they're not that expensive and the sound quality is superior.

I had good results with Alpine or Boston speaker sets. The sound quality's good and the installation shouldn't be too much of a hassle, either.

I love the car but the only problem is the speakers are terrible.
Adding a set of components for the front sound stage can make a huge difference. Some vehicles make it more difficult to install components in the door. Since your said your car has 4x6's in the front, I'm assuming they are mounted on the dash. A great brand of speakers is JL Audio. Usually a 6.5" will be easiest to mount in a door unless you have 4x6" in door. A component speaker allows the 6.5" to handle bass and mid/bass and the tweeter handling highs can be mounted as high on the door as possible. This provides superior sound because highs are absorbed by seats, carpet, and even pant legs. JL Audio offers three levels of sound based on your budget. Alpine is also a good speaker, but JL can't be beat. Hope this helps.
