I'm 31 and currently have a Honda S2000 and Honda Pilot in my driveway. I've owned nearly every model down the line from the Civic, Element, Odyssey and have brought Civics and Accords into my family. Comparing the Civic to the Accord isn't really a fair comparison since they are two different classes of car. The Civic has always ranged from very efficient models up through sporty Si trim levels, but is smaller than the accord and meant to be cheaper. The accord, being the bigger brother has similar offerings with leather and V6 sport models.
The decision between the cars comes down to 1. the room you need, 2. the price range, and 3. aesthetics. Personally, I'd buy an accord over a Civic because the newest civics don't compare to the older in reliability, features and quality. Additionally, the V6 option and more room for the children is a selling point I prefer.
