| No one wants to have to deal with truck repairs. Unfortunately, it’s just a fact of life. So, you need to be prepared. When you do have to bring your truck to a repair shop, you want to make sure the job gets done right. You also want to make sure that you get the job done at an affordable price. To do those things, you can’t just take your GMC Truck to the nearest repair shop. You’ve got to do some legwork ahead of time, to see if the shop is right for you. Here are some things you can do to get ready: • Know your vehicle, long before you ever have to drive it to the shop. Know what kind of service it needs, and how frequently it is going to need that service. Check and follow the repair schedule contained in your owner’s manual. • Pick your a repair shop long before you need one. The worst time to pick a repair shop is when your car is in need of service. During those times, you will be under a lot more pressure than when it doesn’t yet need service. • Check with your family, friends, and coworkers for repair shop recommendations. Ask about their service experiences, and their level of satisfaction. • Check with consumer advocacy groups or business associations in your area. Your Better Business Bureau or Chamber of Commerce may have detailed information about customer satisfaction with a given repair facility. • If it is convenient for you, test out the repair shop with a minor job. Give them the opportunity to do some of your routine maintenance. If you’re satisfied with that work , consider using them for more complicated maintenance and repairs down the road. • When you do check out the shop, make sure you do so with an observant eye. Watch for an organized facility, with modern equipment. • Ask if the shop normally works on GMC trucks. Make sure they’re not a specialty facility that doesn’t normally work on your type of vehicle. • Once your service is done, follow up. If the service was good, make sure to give them repeat business. If it isn’t first try to talk with the service manager or the owner about the problem. A reputable shop will make an effort to keep you as a customer. At your local Buick-Pontiac-GMC dealer, we’re concerned about you and about the quality of service you receive on your car. Come see us today to talk about your service needs. ![]() Last edited by JCME; 09-18-2008 at 01:46 PM. |
