    Hello john!

The current iteration of the CLS is internally designated as the C219 and it was first offered for sale in Europe and Latin America in autumn 2004. It is assembled by Daimler AG in Sindelfingen, Germany and Mercedes-Benz-Valdez in Santiago Tianguistenco, Santiago Tianguistenco, Mexico.

The next generation CLS was first seen being tested in 2009, with a scheduled introduction in 2010. It was introduced first on the NAIAS in Detroit, in January 2010, by a sculpture showing the new design for Mercedes cars. Rumours state the CLS might be the first car to introduce a new line of AMG engines, replacing the 6.2 V8 used in all 63 AMG's except W220 S63 and C215 CL63.

In 1958, Mercedes-Benz entered into a distribution agreement with the Studebaker-Packard Corporation of South Bend, Indiana (USA), makers of Studebaker and Packard brand automobiles. Under the deal, Studebaker would allow Mercedes-Benz access to its dealer network in the U.S., handle shipments of vehicles to the dealers, and in return, receive compensation for each car sold. Studebaker also was permitted to use the German automaker's name in its advertisements, which stressed Studebaker's quality over quantity.

The luxury car buyer who desires distinctive styling, strong performance and a sumptuous interior, the CLS is easy to recommend.

I have to respond on this. The decision is up to you when you determine what fits your needs. I have two S and two CLS. I will normally drive the CLS63 because it is just fun to drive and perfect as long as I do not have to carry passengers or materials. The trunk is perfect size to handle luggage for two. the ride is excellent, the performance is spectacular. Even the fuel economy is amazing at 20mpg. Now the S. I find the S is a bit more sedate and forgiving. Great ride for longer journeys. Plenty of room for 5 people and their luggage. Easy entry and exit without anyone bumping their heads when using the rear seats. Both front and rear seats have heating and cooling. Both front and rear seats have recline. Much better rear leg room than the CLS. By the way just ordered a new S63 but disappointed that the 5.5L twin turbo now replaces the 6.2L engine. This brings up the matter of price. Expect the S to be $25K more than the CLS similarly equipped. The money is mainly for more features and space. Ignore any S class that does not include the P3 package. .
