Default Winter Driving and Maintenance Tips

This winter, take a little bit of extra time to make sure your Toyota has what it needs. Whether you're driving to work on a blustery day or traveling across the country for Christmas, there are a few things you should keep in mind before driving in the winter.

The first thing to think about is snow removal. You want to make sure your car isn't covered in snow and ice. Cleaning your windows of snow and ice is, of course, necessary to be able to see properly. You also should remove snow and ice from your vehicle's hood and roof. Snow on the hood can break off and hit your own window, while snow on your roof could break off and hit the vehicle behind you.

If you live in an area that gets a lot of snow, you should consider snow tires. If possible, get your snow tires on their own set of rims, which makes storage and switching much simpler.

Keeping your fluids full, including your oil, brake fluid, antifreeze, steering fluid, transmission fluid and your window wiper fluid will all help during the winter, as well. In addition, keeping your gas tank full will help to minimize condensation and make sure you've got extra gas in case you get stuck in traffic during the winter.
