Have you taken notice that today's cars have virtually no engine
compression braking on coast? These newer automatics are virtual
free-wheelers which is decidedly illegal on state law statute books. While
the law books were written to cover standard transmission operation with
clutch depressed on downhill grades, no doubt because drum brakes fade away
when overworked, the laws are still on the books and automatics that lockup
and freewheel in 5th from highway speeds down to 15mph or so are in effect
just like standards with the clutch pedal down. That should concern car
makers because a smart lawyer can use that in a product liability case.

Those plastic "air dams" that drag and scrape are rediculous non-functional
add-ons that are easily broken and expensive to replace. You will note the
Presidential Limo (a Caddy) does not sport them, though they come on the
standard model sold to the public.

I think the prospect who ventures into the dealerships these days knows
these facts and is thorougly disgusted, particularly when the price of a
family sized car is approaching $30,000. Wise up, Cyberious.
