For the most part, it’s rare to find new high-tech gadgets that debut on anything but luxury vehicles. Often, most folks don’t get access to new technological features until they’ve been out for a couple of years. That changed with the release of the
2008 Ford Focus and the Sync system.
The Sync system was developed by Ford in conjunction with Microsoft. The purpose of the Sync system is to add convenience and safety to the driving experience. What exactly does Sync do? Here are some examples:
Sync can read text messages from the driver’s cell phone, Blackberry or other Bluetooth-capable PDA.
Sync can let you control your car’s stereo with voice commands. For example, you can as the system “what is playing?” and the Sync system will tell you the name of the performer, song and album if available.
Sync also lets you make handsfree cell phone calls so you can keep your eyes on the road and hands on the wheel.
Sync features interfaces for your iPod or other MP3 player, and features Bluetooth connectivity for cell phones and other devices.
Those are just a handful of the capabilities of this amazing system. Sync isn’t available for the base S model Ford Focus, but it is available on the other models. Sync is exclusive to Ford through November, 2008.
The 2008 Ford Focus features some other upgrades, as well. The style has been improved, the engine has gained 3% horsepower, there’s more new standard safety equipment, and there is even a retuned suspension. Best of all, it’s rated 35 miles per gallon on the highway and 24 miles per gallon in the city.
