| Washing your Ford car or truck can be fun, if you approach it with a positive attitude. More than that, however, washing our car is a great way to protect the investment you’ve made in your vehicle. If you live in an area with hard winters, it’s much more important to get your vehicle through the snow and muck safely than it is to keep your vehicle sparkling. During the summer, then, it’s time to catch up on your vehicle maintenance. Part of that maintenance is washing your car. The fastest and easiest way to get your car sparkly clean is to have it detailed. Having your car detailed can cost anywhere from $75 to $300, depending on your local market and who you take the car to. The good news is that you can learn to clean your car, inside and out, on your own. While washing your own car can seem difficult and time consuming, the more you do it, you’ll find the less time that it takes. What you need Before you actually start to wash your Ford vehicle, there are some things you’ll need. You need a steady supply of water, hopefully with at least a little bit of water pressure. You’ll need a dirt-free soft cloth, and you’ll need a good car wash soap. Make sure you don’t just use dish soap on your car. Dish soap can contain substances that will damage your car’s surface. Car wash products are specifically designed to get dirt off of cars without being too harsh on the car. How to do it • Washing your car is a relatively simple process: • First, you will rinse your entire car to get rid of any loose dirt. • Next, you should wash and rinse one section of the car at a time. This prevents one section from drying too quick and leaving residue. • When you do wash, rub the surface of the car in a gentle motion to loosen dirt. • Don’t rub too aggressively, or you’ll risk grinding dirt into your car’s finish. • Rinse your sponge or wash mitt frequently to prevent dirt from scratching the paint • Finally, use lots of rinse water to get the dirt of f your car for good.
