| Let’s face it: it’s not easy finding a reputable repair shop. The automotive repair industry as a whole isn’t necessarily corrupt, but a few bad apples tend to spoil the whole bunch. For that reason, you want to be careful about where it is that you take your Ford vehicle to be serviced. Here are some tips to keep in mind when trying to find a shop for your Ford: Be familiar with your Ford and with what your regular service needs will be. Check your owner’s manual for regular maintenance schedules. Try to pick a shop before you need one so that you’re ready when you do. By doing some legwork ahead of time, you’ll be less rushed and pressured to choose a shop that may not meet your needs. Ask friends, family and coworkers about their service experiences. In addition, ask them about how satisfied they were with those service experiences. Check with your local consumer groups, such as a Better Business Bureau, to see if the shop has a reputation, good or bad. Pay attention when you visit the shop for the first time. Check to see how organized they are. Look for modern service equipment. Ask the shop questions. Make sure they have worked on Ford vehicles. Know whether or not they specialize in certain types of service or repairs. Try the shop out with a minor service or repair job first. If they do well, continue to take your vehicle to that shop for your service needs. Once you find a shop you like, try to establish a long-term relationship with them. They’re much more likely to go out of their way for a regular returning customer than a stranger. After your service is done, evaluate it. If you’re happy with the service, keep it in mind for next time. If you’re not happy with some aspect, talk to the shop owner or the service manager and see what they can do for you.
