One of the most amazing systems in your Ford vehicle, and one that you almost never think much about when you’re at the
Ford dealer, is the suspension system. The suspension in your Ford is made up of a number of components, all of which work together to make your ride stable and smooth.
Still, there are times when you’re going to have suspension problems. For example, you might feel a bit of a shimmy in your Ford vehicle’s steering.
There are a number of things can cause the wheel of your Ford vehicle to shimmy. For example, it might be that you've got low tire pressure. To figure out whether or not that’s he case, check your tire inflation to see how your tires are faring.
Another possible reason for a shimmy is that that your wheels are out of balance. Many times, the tire shop or dealership will rotate and balance your tires for a low fee, or even free. Worn tires can also cause a shimmy.
In addition to tire pressure or balance issues, a shimmy can also mean that your wheel is misaligned, or that your steering components are worn.
At other times, you might find that the wheel of your Ford is pulling to one side. When your Ford pulls to one side when you're driving, it can also be a sign of low tire pressure, tire wear, or bad alignment. On the other hand, it can also indicate that there are steering components that have bone bad, or that there is a brake caliper that's sticking. Check tire pressure and wear, but be aware that there could be a more serious problem.
Bounce is another common problem caused by suspension trouble. If your car bounces after going over an uneven road or bump, it can mean that you have a slipped or broken leaf ring. It can also mean that your shocks or your struts are worn and in need of replacement.
Whatever the trouble, your Ford Dealer’s repair department can help you figure out what’s wrong, and can fix it for you, too.
