    Default Online Marketing

    Hi All,

I am wondering what services should I use to market my cars online? i'm looking to open my own dealership and need help on how to market effectively online to sell my cars. Should I use Craiglist? Autotrader? cars.com? Which ones did you use? Recommend?

    Thanks,
    Phatom

    Hi Phatom,

I personally am not a car dealer but I do represent a dealer solutions company that offers both data feeds to sites like autotrader.com and cars.com as well as an ad posting tool for craigslist. The feedback we have received from our customers is that their craigslist ads are more effective. It will be interesting to hear from others as to what they are finding to be the best method.

To find out more information about our (Friday Systems, Inc.) dealer software solutions visit lotwizard.com.There you can learn more about our craigslist posting tool, CL Manager. We also offer website design and hosting services as well as an affordable DMS System.

I wish you luck with your new business venture.

    Sincerely,
    Jason

Anyone tried to advertise on yahoo autos or ebay motors? is it worth it? those two are not quite as popular as autotrader and cars.com but I'm pretty sure they still get good amount of unique hits.

Actually, eBay motors holds more online traffic than autotrader and cars.com. One of the major things people dont know about eBay is it is more than just a marketplace or auction website. It is an EXPLOSIVE lead generator, and if used correctly, can multiply sales. My company and I go to most of the eBay conventions, and take great notes. I have a few PDF's I would be happy to share with anyone. Just send me a message.

As for the avenues that are most effective... you get what you pay for. Yes, Craigslist is great, until you get flagged by other dealers. And cars.com is great, until someone is on your showroom and clicks off your showroom because a franchise dealership pays them more money and has ads all over the page. Every site has ups and downs. It really all comes down to your dilligence and dedication along with your inventory management capabilities.

    Hope this helps.

And not to spam this thread, but Facebook just started turning off personal accounts that are being used for business purposes. Make a business page through your personal account.

If you offer both new & used vehicles, I suggest advertising on autotrader.com & cars.com using their premium ad services. Also, open an ebay store for your dealership.
If you are only selling pre-owned vehicles, I suggest advertising on craiglist's dealership category, as well as autotrader.
For both, you should definately look into investing a medium budget into search engine marketing. With $600/mo, this will get you off the ground. However, I see the major players that dominate the local market spending $8000-12000/month in search engine advertising alone!
We would be more than happy to kick start and manage your campaign, as well as offer consultation. Hope this helped!

CL is the #1 place people go to for anything used these days! So if you are not posting you cars to CL you are missing out on a huge consumer base. Secondly if you are not posting your cars to the "top" of CL daily your ads are worthless, by the second day your ad will be several pages back and no one is going to look that far.....
I work for the #1 company in hands-free CL posting. We take a direct feed from you data vendor and your ads will go up whether you selling cars, taking the day off or just are tired on doing it manually. We specialize in ghosting issues so if your suffering from this like so many are, I am your gal and I can get up back up!
This service will make you more money then any other of your ad programs combined!
